Hi there! My name is Kerry Pitt and I am currently living near Edmonton, Alberta. I grew up on Vancouver Island, fishing any kind of water I could get to.
I have been tying and fly fishing since I was 12 years old in 1969, though you would probably never know it.
I moved to Fort St John in Northeastern B.C. in 1980 and then in 2003 I moved here, kids were nearing University age, so it made sense though the fishing here is not the best.
I do fish the Bow, Crowsnest, Oldman and several other places and tie a lot of flies through the winter.
This year I completed the creation of Project Healing Waters Canada the first International branch of Project Healing Waters Inc in the United States.
That is what has brought me to this community.
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing seeks to introduce or re-introduce Wounded Canadian Soldiers to fly fishing and fly tying for both physical and spiritual healing.
I am looking for a club or organization that would be interested in running a program for soldiers out of Shilo. There are at least 5 soldiers there who participated in a combined U.S./Canadian fishing trip last Spring. They would like to continue to improve their abilities and to participate in fly fishing in general.
Our website is www.projecthealingwaters.ca my contact information is there. The site is new and under some construction but our Mission Statement is up and I am available for questions at any time.
I look forward to learning more about fishing in Manitoba as well as adding my 2 cents worth where it matters.......Kerry Pitt
