Spent the Thanksgiving long weekend in the Duck Mts. (Didn't post this in the reports section 'cause I didn't do any fly fishing.)
Wellman was talking about a lot of snow in the Ducks... Well, we saw it first hand on Sunday AND Monday. Stayed away from the lakes when it started to snow and went hiking instead.
On Saturday, however, we rented a canoe from the resort at East Blue Lake. We paddled down East Blue, portaged into Shillday - fished a bit with spinning gear - and then portaged into West Blue. We completed the circuit by paddling to West Blue's north end. (Didn't have to hump the canoe back to the starting point 'cause the resort owner offered to pick it up... Bonus!)
Anyway, we got a 20" laker while trolling down East Blue and a rainbow from Shilliday. You could drive to all these lakes separately but it's kind of interesing to experience the entire length of each one from the canoe - especially East Blue with its amazing clarity. And, if you don't have a boat, it's pretty cheap ($35) for the canoe rental.

The Blue Lakes in mid summer are insane for bugs. Bugs that bite in the sun, shade, day, night and in the water.
Gotta be nice this time of year.
