Hit Lockport this morning (5:00 am) and landed four cats and one carp (more lost) before getting back to the office by 9:00am. So, why should I have stayed in bed? Fish #2. I was wading, thigh deep, finishing up on a line tangle when a big cat came up and took my fly that had been dangling in the gentle current. Only problem was that, as the line whipped out, a loop somehow flipped past my face, catching and flinging my glasses into the water! Dilemma: Should I keep fighting the fish, or break it off and look for $400,00 worth of recently-purchased metal and glass. Well, I didn't move from the spot, landed the fish, then started looking. Problem: it was a little deeper than my arm is long. After five fruitless minutes, with one side of the waders now completely filled, the glasses were removed from my inventory list. Fortunately, I had a spare pair that allowed me to keep fishing, long enough to develop a good chill before I squished my way back to the parking lot and then to work. Now I know why everyone wears those glass-holder thingeys! (Duh!) Just came back from the opticians, where I begged for the "treat-the-idiot-compassionately" rate. They said they'd think about it... TIM BTW, fish were in evidence all across the river early on, and started moving the the deeper, faster areas by 7:30 am or so. Caught one by casting to a swirl in the shallows.

Tim, As usual, I am impressed by your drive to get some fishing in before work. At least now when you go to work and your co-workers complain that you stink like fish, you will have a story to tell... ;D and at least you will have a good excuse. Sucks about the glasses though... maybe you should post on a few local fishing boards that if anyone snags them this weekend to give you a call? I think it's a possiblity considering how many people fish there. James.

I think magnets should be part of my fishing gear in my vehicle they sure can save you bucks when losing stuff,....
NOT JUST THAT YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU MIGHT FIND LIKE BRAND NEW ROD AND REEL COMBOS ;D WITH NICE SIZED WALLEYE ON THE END OF THEM
But thats another story....... ;D
