Well down at the dam again. The goldeye action was nonexistent but i did get my first Drum on a fly in Manitoba (2nd in my life on a fly) and after dark i was getting some small walleye and bigger sauger. Each of the 5 times i have been there i have not been skunked and as i fish there more it becomes more and more of a [glow=red,2,300]CREATURE FEATURE[/glow] what's this on the end of my line this time. That is the good side. I know i have heard a few complaints about the garbage down there but maybe it si good or better now but i have seen some popular fishing spots so filthy that it would make Lockport a paradise. Although i did find a rice bag floating and i did clean up by filling it with a whack of bait boxes, A&W wrappers and old line. What i really foud disturbing is that each time i have been there someone is poaching. Last night some guy took at least 25 sauger up to his car then came back for more fishing!!!! The time before that a guy took out 20 fish. THe CO's do come but it seems after the fact. Two guys from this board came down Richard who did fish awhile and got something and Darrell with family in tow. Good guys both and hope to run into all of you soon. Weather permitting i will fish the dam the next 2 Mondays (and maybe a few ohter days) so come on down and say hi or join in the fun! ;D

It was great meeting you Rob and Richard - I should have pulled the flyrod out. Next time . . . I can confirm the drum, along with a couple sauger for Rob. Seemed to be a good evening. I saw the character with the excessive sauger haul. At time of our departure he had 2 stringers and working on the third. Makes you wonder if a slap from the CO's would stop him. Must forward a Kudos to you Rob on cleaning up after some slobs. I'm sure a lot of us do the same - I unfortunately carry small garbage bags for this purpose. Anyhow - Monday's huh. . . . !!! Just give me some elbow room.

It to has been my thing to clean up these popular sites. Although i do find 1 styrofoam bait box at the whiteshell river more offensive than all that crap at the dam. As for elbow room ...i had that entire reef to myself shortly after you 2 guys left with that wind i needed it. ;D

Well I haven't been out to Lockport since june, I caught a real nice carp(fairly caught not fouled like so many I've caught there)its good to here that the fishins good. the thing that bugged me the last time I was out was here I was fishing this spot close to the island(reef) and this boat moves in and starts fishing my spot all because they saw me pull in this big carp. As too the guy who was taking more than he's allowed, maybe someone should have taken his licence plate # and called him in. It seems to me that we as responable fishermen that we need to start holding those who are not accountable. What do you guys think ? .....Kim

I told the co's when they arrived but was not in the parking lot to see his car but i gave the co's a good description of him. Maybe i should bring a cell for there but heck i don't bring a watch..

I agree - we're all responsible fishing-type people, and the CO's just can't be everywhere (although I must wonder some times). I'm not saying it's up to us to confront the schmucks on the spot but I've noticed a phone call of a violator on-the-spot usually gets quick attention. I just got rid of my cell - there are still land-lines about (for now), and people survived without them before. darrell,

yep I know what you mean I dont bring a watch and I'm not big on cell phones but a pen and paper sounds like a good idea and a little time away from fishing to snag a licence plate of someone whos wreaking it for those who are trying to play fair I think its worth it.....Kim
