the power of nature is awesome ................ reminds me somewhat of the destruction I saw in the southeast near the town of Sandilands after( what was or wasn't according to who you speak to : a tornado went thru there.

I walked that trail with the kids last summer (after the storm) - I could not recognize it! Having walked that trail dozens of times, I was so familiar with it. Now, I can't even pick out where I am on the trail. Very, very sad. The amount of destruction in the north end of the park was truly staggering. Ken

The loss of a friend......
Coupled with the music, it tugs at the heart strings. New life springs from it immediately though. Small consolation for all the memories. We had a twister go through our lot at Silver Harbour way back and knocked a dozen trees on our roof and pushed the cabin off it's foudation. That was fixed but the lot looked wrong.....

just for info - today's CBC 6:00 news had a story about a 4 year project being started by the province to replant trees lost in the Whiteshell due to the terrible storm. I didn''t catch the numbers to be planted but it sounded like a pretty massive project. Good to hear!!

I posted in 'Reports', but I'll add here...I went hiking with my older son today on Pine Point, but took the upper trail, and was thoroughly impressed. It's all cleared of windfall, and looks very very nice. It was actually an excellent hike. Pine Point is once again worth going to. Just not to fish.
