guess the stugeon got tired of hearing the annoying sound of the jet ski's going by overhead......... actuually, the lake sturgeon native to Manitoba will leap completely out of the water when hooked.

You know i noticed that as well funny you would say that i guess anyone who lands into one would know that. About them jumping as soon as they are hooked.

The one-and-only sturgeon that I caught did not jump...I feel cheated!
Interestingly, on our stretch of the Winnipeg River (Dorothy Lake) I saw more breaching sturgeon this year (at least half a dozen) than I have ever seen. A few years back, while wind-surfing, I had a +/- 30# fish breach about 10 yards away. If I could train them to deal with the "Crazies" (a local nick-name) and their fleet of PWC's about 10 cottages down the shore, summer would be so serene!!...Maybe the CIA has worked on this one...TIM
