My brother in law works for Husky oil head office in Calgary and use to work for Exxon Mobile also in Calgary. Talking to him, he says the prices have been gouged for more than a little while, it hasn't been a big deal until the price has shot up recently. Funny how we really complain when it goes from 90 cents to a $1.20 and down to 1.03, it is a good deal. I have not been driving for all that long and can remember getting gas in the country for around 50 cents.

he says the prices have been gouged for more than a little while Yes like I said not news. I mean when the price goes up on the gas at the service station because of a storm that hasn't made landfall Gas is about the only retail product that goes up (yet rarely down) when the raw materials go up.

... can remember getting gas in the country for around 50 cents. Was pumping it for $0.23/l ............. There was an article a while back (N. Post tale I believe) when Newf. tried their rebellion on prices. Noted how and whys of gas price setting ......... all-in-all we're linked to USofA prices (somehow). Our $ would definately be lower, but they noted there'd be a influx of Americans crossing the border to buy our cheaper gas. Not saying I agree with their justification ......... not at all. Horses - probably 45-50 miles to the bale ........... (60lb's hay ...... you can get 1100lbs for around $35) ...... can feed a horse for a heck of a long time for the same cost of running a car .............. (or van)
