This has nothing to do with casting... It's actually about the mechanics of RETRIEVING. And I figured this section needed a thread...
Has anybody ever heard of "slapping" the reel handle to recover line as quickly as possible?

This is done in center pin angling all the time and I have done it often.
Another retrieve that is salient to us with our big predator fish is the salt water or two handed strip.

Do you find it significantly faster? It seems to me it would be hard to coordinate with the non-slapping hand that's trying to get the distribute the line EVENLY on the spool.

Usually it is for a quick line p/u so ya it can get tangly but if one is fighting a big fish (the usual reason for getting to the reel) then the next run will pull it off and you can reel the fish in evenly
if you have a click or click and pawl drag it is not that much faster but if you have a disc drag then it is very fast.
