Howdy all. I'm only in Manitoba until the end of May. Not new to the sport - just an average "Joe" who likes fly fishing for trout. I also enjoy fly fishing for pike when trout aren't available. Most of my fly fishing experience is on moving waters of South Western Alberta, BC and New Brunswick. I am in the Brandon area on business with limited free time, but I need to get out and fish. I have a float tube but relatively limted still-water trout fishing experience. Hopefully this forum will help me make the best of some limited fishing time in Manitoba before heading back out to Alberta.

Hi there... You picked a pretty good spot for some still water trout!!! Have you got a few lakes picked out as possibilities?

William and Bower lakes are about an hour south of Brandon and are easily fished by tube. William is particularily good for wading. William has some big brownies ( I have managed a few 25" fish) and smallmouth while Bower is noted for bows.My personal favourite is William. There are a lot of older posts about both lakes. Did I mention William is my favourite? Oh, yes I did!
North and west of Brandon has some good lakes too, but I am not as familiar with those.(Patterson, Spear, Tokaryk, Goose)
Have a good time!

welcome thumper I'm Ryan from Boissevain. I'm more than willing to show you around Bower and William I can also get you into some good pike fishing at a few lakes around the area. I work at the co-op gas bar. If you want an update you can phone me there anytime or stop in and ask for me. I am busy umping baseball in the spring but I get the odd day off during the week and I try to get out as much as I can. to you later Ryan
