Hi my name's Ryan. I just registered today. It looks like a great site we have here. I'm from Boissevain about 10 minutes northof the turtle mountains. I'm sure you've all heard about the famous turtle derby which is now called the turtle island festival. I'm 21 years old and I've been fly fishing for about 4 years now but before that I was an avid spin fisherman and you will still find me with a worm on the end of my line once in a while but only when Bower and William aren't producing which is usually only in the summer months except for the smallmouth at William they are already famous for hitting poppers in the evening. They were stocked about 4 or 5 years ago initally to get rid of the perch and trust me it is working and they are reproducing very nicely. There has already been a bass caught that was 19 and a half inches long and there weren't any bigger than 15 inches stocked. So it's looking good. I am familiar with most of the lakes around here so if anybody has any questions just let me know. I'm at either Bower or William quite often and sometimes every day when the fish are biting. I'm in a trout traps float tube with a bright orange back on it. Well I have to head back to work. I'm glad to finally be on this board and it'll nice meeting some other fly fisherman in my home province.

Hey Ryan: Glad to have you aboard!!! I'll start with a question: What is the boat traffic like on Bower? I'd like to fish it but I have a rule to not fish water with power boats. But the guide says motor boats are not banned or am i mistaken?

Robert, the boat traffic isn't that bad on bower. At least I don't think it is. There are a lot of big rainbows in there. An american guy caught one 30 inches this spring. When the fish are biting there are a few boats but most of the people stay clear of us. There are lots of guys who fish bower with tubes and have great success in the spring and fall. There are more boats in the summer time when it's warm enough for the water skiers and tubers. I'd give it a try and see how you like it. Motor's are definately not banned but if I see quite a few power boats there I go where the can't get. There's a couple shallow bays where the trout hang out in the spring and fall where it's too shallow for the boats to go. Right now the water is turning over and it's stained pretty badly but I'm expecting it to clear up within the next week or so. I'm hoping it will anyways. Good Fishin!! Ryan
