Was it you who posted about an attempt to fish the BH @ #1?
Something about a road a 100 meters south and parallel to #1 that met up with the river (even if ya had to get out and walk etc
Can't find it here please refresh as I might make it out there after work on Saturday

Yup - that wuz me ... refresh = F5 ok - here it goes
A pool on north side of each lane on #1. As for the road on the south side - yes - as follows: Go past the Brokenhead River on #1. Just about 500m past - there is a turn off to the right, south. (First turn after brokenhead). Go down this road - a little over a klick down - there is a bit of a fork - stay right - now you're heading west. A short jaunt further is the Brokenhead again - small bridge. Just past the river (you're going west now remember) - is a road (called a trail actually - with a number that I forget) that goes left, south. (to make sure you're in the right area - there's a yard there too - right side of road (north side). The trail was not amicable to the Windstar last year when I went. Had to back-up for a bit. There is a couple bridges that cross the Brokenhead further south down the trail. IF I remember tonite - I'll figgure out the distances to the bridges and post tomorrow. enjoy,

Tried to link a map from map quest but i gues they don't allow that. But it shows a myriad or roads (quality unknown) around the river to the south.
Tried the same thing for the east pine and that looks real interesting
With 10,000 fry planted in those each of those two rivers in 2002 and 400 6"rs put in each last year i owe it to our DNR to fish it ;D

MapQuest eh !?!? go-figgure wouldn't ya know it - I got a topo of the East-Pine Cr. area to ..... how'd THAT happen. I know what you mean - they put all that effort into breeding them, and stocking them ..... would be nice to know if/when they might do it this year - so they don't ...... spoil Nice area down there too. There's gotta be pools somewhere to winter the fish - hopefully north of the 49th too. read somewhere - trout can survive on 3ppm O2 I said can, that's like might, maybe, almost, sometimes would be worth figguring it out. Also would be nice to know - what is the "TYPICAL" response to trout when stocked in a river / creek. Do they stay close to stocking area, move upstream, move downstream ...... Thoughts ...... Ideas ? ? ? Knowledge ? ? ?

Any chance on GPS coordinates? ;D I would have to have one of those. Me it is maps and a compass. I know in other places stocked fish may not breed but the live and grow.

k9kazoo - sorry - I guess I was fat-fingering my last response when you posted yours - didn't see yours. If there's a next Q for GPS co-ord's what do you want, lat/long or UTM - magnetic N or True N. Personally I use True N and UTM - easier to locate on topo's with no calc's for magnetic variation.
RB - I was pretty much on the mark - got a sketch I done off the topo - but copyright stuff and all that . . .
Other than that - I was pretty much on the mark - except road off of #1 is about 1km east of river.
The bridge south on the trail is about 3.5 - 4km down (I must have been danged close last year before I decided to back-up).
enjoy and good luck,

FWIT Using mapquest and a ruler (as opposed to a topo and a GPS) i have figured this:
2 km east of #13 to Reynolds ponds (1km east of river) is a "road" ¾'s of a klick south on that brings you to another road and 1 klick west on that brings you to the river (and maybe a crossing)
If you can get across that and go south about 3 klicks (running parallel to the river) you will meet up with another bridge.
also...
2 klicks east of the road to Richer is a road going south for a short while till you meet up with another road that you can follow east (parallel to #1) for 5-6 klicks and meet up at the first bridge (mentioned above) and go from there.
If your road is really a trail (wishing he still had his Jimmy) then this other way might be the trick. (particularly if the first bridge is a bust for fishing).
If there are fish in this river left i hope i find them. But when they are planted in mid spring (as they have been in the past) they will move upstream (the area discussed) as the weather heats up.
I hope this pans out as it would be nice to have a local stream to hit when i only have a few hours.
rb...here's to hoping!

if this works i am gonna apply this tactic to the East Pine which has (on the map anyhow) very interesting head waters.
