Just got back from the Roseau. Didn't fish as we where still working on the Bridge. Got another 2 sections finished before the rain came. The river has come up about a foot since last weekend but the water is still very turbid. Good level for fishing though. I did see some very small Mays hatching # 18's and a number of caddis coming off. There where some fish rising here and there.

There where fish rising so that's a good sign. The River will probably up a little again if there was lots of rain in Minnesota but the fishing should be good. It won't get as high as it was when where out last time. The water should have cleared by the weekend. I would fish from road that goes through the river. You can fish ether up stream as there are some nice pools that way or you can fish down stream through some of the area we fished last time. It won't even look the same now so you will think your in a diffrent place on the river.I may be out there on Saturday.

Spent the day on the Roseau Working not fishing. When we got to the bridge there where clouds of smal blue Duns hatching ( 18-20's) there where fish rising constantly in a back eddy pool just down stream of the bridge. I did not bring the fishing gear with me as I would not have got any work done but it's kind of like hunting. When you don't have your gun with you, you see game everywhere. In the afternoon the slightly larger White Album Mays where hatching although not in as great a number as the morning. The river is at a nice flow stage right now. It's a little high for good shore line access but the fish are there and the hatches are still quite steady. Aaaahhhhhh just another day in paradise. ;D

At the River again today. Had to go and check out the work that is being done at the bridge for our Quest Grant. We have some kids at risk building a stair case at the Senkiw Bridge site and we had to locate survey pins and re-flag a trail through the bush for these guys to clear on the north side of the river. The work is going very well even though the weather has been less than desireable. The river is probably higher than I have seen it since spring and still rising. The river is fishable although I wouldn't count on the hatches right now. Probably best patterns right now would be garden hackle and fall dace patterns. ;D The river would not be wadeable but walking from one back eddy area to another should be producing Walleye in decent quantities. There has been lots of good action on the Red so I would think they are also running up the Roseau as well. The weather is supposed to be very nice this week. Hmmm i just have decide which day I'm going to play hooky from work. ;D
