In my never ending search for a near-by trout stream . . .
Spent some time around Riding Mountain in the past few weeks. Kinch Creek is noted as stocked with 2600 brook fry last Oct. (5km N and 5 km E of Kelwood - hwy #5). Watching the previous stocking lists - this is not the first time I've seen Kinch Cr. stocked. There is also McLung Cr. in the same area (around town of Riding Mountain)- apparently stocked a year or 2 back (can't rightly recall).
Problem is - I looked for these locales - as directed - and found nothing more than a dried up creek bed. Topo maps show (and label) the creeks - but no H2O in the creek bed. I know topo's depict drainage ditches as water bodies (they show Sturgeon creek running through home country - and its dry after spring run-off). Heading back that way soon - I'm going to check Stoney Creek (called Neepawa creek on topo map) and see if it is in the same state as Kinch.
Does anyone know if this is normal (for the creeks that is) or if it has just been a dry year there and the creeks are really gone TEXT along with the fish.

Can't offer you any enlightment about Kinch Ck, but I was by Stoney Ck two days ago (a couple of miles below Franklin) and that section was not flowing.
